Electric Vehicles Are (Not) The Way Ahead

When you hear of the term 'electric vehicle', associated terms like 'green', 'environment-friendly', 'non-polluting' come rushing to your mind, don't they. Well they should, because all of them make complete sense. Except for the fact that they don't. Ever thought about where the electricity for the path-breaking electric vehicle comes from ?

Yes, the answer is clear. It comes from very non-green sources like coal and petroleum. What the manufacturers sell is just a machine which banks on the ability of energy to transform from chemical (polluting) to electrical (seemingly non-polluting). So what this means is that the Reva or the Chevy Volt that you drive, that you think is green and clean, is not so much green as much as grey and sooty, just in a very obscure way.

Agreed, that the vehicles do not emit smoke. So ? The electricity required for them comes from a source which DOES produce smoke - a lot of it. So how do these cars make sense ? How do they still escape the eyes of the consumer ? Well, the consumer is kept uninformed mostly, kept blind to the truth behind these vehicles. The sooner the consumer understands the concept behind these cars, the better it'll be for all parties involved - except for the ruthless manufacturers of course !
